Last year the Arroyo Grande boys basketball team edged Righetti by one game for the Pac-7 championship, the Warriors made a statement on Friday night that things are going to be different this season. In a game played at Righetti High School the Warriors beat the Eagles, 69-52.
Righetti was ahead 31-27 at the half before Arroyo Grande took a brief 32-31 lead in the third quarter. The Warriors went on a 15-0 run from there to put the game away.
6'6" sophomore Cam Walker led Righetti with 22 points, most coming on drives to the basket. Senior point guard Marcus McMorris and senior guard Landon Brown had 12 points.
Senior forward Desean Scott led the Eagles with 11 points.
Righetti improves to 6-8 overall, 2-0 in Pac-7 play. Arroyo Grande drops to 11-5, 0-2 in league play. The Warriors play at St. Joseph on Monday night. The Eagles host Pioneer Valley on Monday.
