The Righetti boys basketball team had a tough draw in the first round of the Division 2A playoffs. The 7th seeded Warriors hosted Dominguez, the team from Compton was 10-16 but the Dons played a tough schedule. Dominguez proved to be better than its record in a 72-67 win over Righetti.
The Warriors were led in scoring by senior point guard Marcus McMorris with 23, sophomore forward Cam Walker added 17.
Righetti was down 33-31 at the half and 52-49 after three quarters. Dominguez extended the lead to 58-49 early in the fourth quarter before the Warriors went on an 8-0 run to pull within one. Righetti had one possession to take the lead but missed a shot. The Dons pulled away down the stretch to win comfortably despite a late flury from the Warriors.
Righetti finishes the season 14-12, the Warriors were Pac-7 co-champions with Atascadero. Both teams went 10-2 in league. Righetti graduates nine seniors.
