Jorge Guzman scored three goals within a twelve minute period in the second half to deliver the Pac 7 League outright title for the Righetti High boys soccer team. The Warriors overcame a 2-1 deficit to beat San Luis Obispo 4-2 in the league finale Friday night.
The Warriors improved to 10-2 in league to leapfrog over 9-2-1 Arroyo Grande and Pioneer Valley.
The Tigers struck first midway through the first half on a goal from Peter Delkeskamp struck from outside the box. The Warriors tied it a few minutes later when Edwin Franco buried it in the open net after the rebound.
The Tigers retook the lead early in the second half on a goal from Trevor James. It remained 2-1 San Luis Obispo until Gustav Jarpehag sent a pass up ahead to Jorge Guzman with 11 minutes to go in regulation. The sophomore beat the charging keeper for his 17th goal of the season to tie it 2-2.
Guzman scored a few minutes later to make it 3-2 and added a third goal in stoppage time to complete the hat trick.
Righetti earned the league's #1 seed for the Division 5 playoffs. The CIF playoff brackets will be released on Monday.
