Roundtable salutes the Knights' Bruton and Dunlap as Athletes of the Week

It is only fitting that two Knights are honored by the Northern Santa Barbara County Athletic Roundtable on Monday for leading their teams to huge victories last week.

St. Joseph girls basketball star Tatiana Dunlap was named Female Athlete of the Week, while fellow Knight Case Bruton took home Male Athlete of the Week honors.

Dunlap scored 34 points in a Pac 7 League victory over Righetti and then 35 points in a key win against second place Pioneer Valley. The Knights are now 9-0 in league play and close to clinching the league championship.

"I'm very excited because once I get my confidence built up it tends to last a really long time so without my team building my confidence up I don't think it would have happened," said Dunlap, who scored 39 points the first time the Knights beat PV earlier this season.

The Lady Knights can clinch at least a share of the Pac 7 title on Monday with a win at home over Atascadero. They have a two game lead with three league games to play.

Bruton led the St. Joseph boys to wins over previously undefeated Righetti and Pioneer Valley as well. The boys play at Atascadero on Monday night where both teams are tied for second in league play and one game out of first place.

"We just have to be mentally ready for every game. Definitely tonight against Atascadero is going to be a crazy environment so we just have to be ready and play hard at all times," said Bruton.
