The 19th annual San Luis Obispo International Film Festival kicks off on Wednesday with an Opening Night Gala at the Cal Poly Performing Arts Center.
The red carpet event begins with a reception in the lobby at 5:30 p.m. and a film screening of "Industrial Light & Magic - Creating the Impossible" at 7 p.m.
The SLO International Film Festival will include contemporary, classic, and independent films shown at a variety of venues along the Central Coast over the course of five days.
Surf Nite in SLO returns to the Fremont on Thursday night, with a double feature of big wave movies.
Many local wine venues are getting involved in the SLO International Film Festival, serving their wine at some of the events.
The festival will also feature workshops and panels of film professionals.
Margaret Kerry was the model for Tinkerbell in Disney's Peter Pan. She will take part in the festival, signing autographs on Saturday, March 9, and talking with a panel called "Movies and Magic" on March 10.
