Santa Maria farmer to be sworn in as Santa Barbara County 4th District Supervisor

A well-known Santa Maria farmer and business owner will be sworn in Tuesday, as Santa Barbara County's Fourth District Supervisor.
Peter Adam won the seat in November, defeating 14-year incumbent, Joni Gray.
Adam defeated Gray with a promise to control government spending, and that's what, he said, will be the first thing on his agenda.
"I want to represent the tax payer a little bit and say, you know, you can't have any more money. You have to make do with what you got," said Adam.
Adam said local government needs to start taking fiscal responsibility. "These issues come up time, time, time again and we just have to have a voice in the seat that's going to be able to convey the frustration of the tax payer," added Adam.
Out on the campaign trail, Adam was known for being "outspoken" about his opposition to how he felt the board of supervisors handled business.
As he is about to sworn in, Adam said he will tame his tone but not his message. "In a campaign perhaps it's required to throw a few bombs but, you know, I think when you're coming out of the jungle and you have to administrate then it's a different world, but I will always be outspoken," said Adam.
Santa Barbara County's fourth district consists of Lompoc, Orcutt and some of Santa Maria.
Supervisors in Santa Barbara County serve four-year terms.
