Santa Maria Police say a man is in the hospital recovering from a shooting.
Police tell KSBY News the calls for shots fired came from a home on North Oakley in Santa Maria.
They say their investigation discovered a man knocked on the door of the home and threatened the family inside.
Police say when the homeowner answered the door, the man outside threatened the him with a gun.
Police say the homeowner also had a gun and shot the man at the door several times.
The man who was shot in the torso and hand was taken to a local hospital, and then air lifted to another hospital for further treatment.
At this time, police say they don't know how severe the gunshot wounds are.
