Santa Maria Police investigate two back-to-back early-morning shootings

The Santa Maria Police Department is investigating two shootings that happened in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers responded to the 200 block of West Rochelle just after 1:00 a.m. They say they found 21-year-old Jorge Andrae with a single gunshot wound to his leg.

Police responded to a second shooting at about the same time in the 500 block of N. Oakley. Officers say 18-year-old Jesus Marguez suffered from a gunshot wound to his chest. He was taken to the hospital and later released.

Police say both men were shot by unknown people.

They continue to investigate both shootings. Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Santa Maria Police Department.
