Santa Maria toy store collects pajamas and books for children in need

This holiday season, there will be thousands of food drives around the country to make sure people don't go hungry, but what about other basic needs?

That's where the Pajama Program comes in. It's a non-profit that collects new, warm pajamas and books for children in need around the country.

Here on the Central Coast, Toy Zoo in Santa Maria is helping the cause.

They're collecting books and pajamas and donating them to local foster care children, women's shelters, and homeless shelters.

"At this time, it's considered the danger season, the danger period because it's getting cold outside, and people don't realize how important a pair of pajamas might be," said Aundreana Martinez, an employee at Toy Zoo.

If you'd like to donate, Toy Zoo is located at 1930 South Broadway, right next to Michael's.
