Templeton is the defending Los Padres League champion in girls volleyball but the Eagles will be playing catchup in their quest for a repeat. Santa Ynez beat Templeton three sets to two in a battle of unbeaten LPL teams.
The Pirates won the first set 29-27 before Templeton won 25-17 and 25-18 to take control. Santa Ynez regrouped to win the fourth set, 25-16 and the fifth set, 15-9.
The Pirates improve to 18-3 overall and 6-0 in the LPL. The Eagles drop to 17-6, 5-1. The teams will play again on November 5th in Templeton, that will be the final game of the regular season for both teams.
Last year Templeton won the LPL with a 10-2 record, Santa Ynez and Nipomo were one game behind at 9-3.
