The San Luis Obispo County Sheriff's Office says a man found dead in rural Templeton on March 6th died of an accidental gunshot wound.

Investigators say Robert Hickey, 48, died from a single gunshot wound to the body. He was home alone at the time of his death and was found later by a family member.

Investigators say forensic evidence at the scene and autopsy results determined Hickey accidentally shot himself while placing the rifle into a ranch utility vehicle.
