Sierra Vista employees celebrate Earth Day

Employees at Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo celebrated Earth Day on Tuesday. Hospital officials say "going green" is actually an ongoing effort there. Launched in 2009, they say their Going Green program has significantly reduced paper, water and electricity consumption. "Sustainability is something that's very critical to us and part of our mission to promote the environment, to participate in our community, and to also make sure that all of our practices are promoting environmentally friendly practices," said Kristin Flynn, Chief Human Resources Officer at Sierra Vista. Special activities on Tuesday included a trash pick-up and e-waste recycling. Employees could also sign up for a weekly community supported agriculture fresh harvest box.
