SLO Council swears in new member

The newest member of the San Luis Obispo city council was sworn in Tuesday night. Carlyn Christianson won the special election last month.

Christianson says her background in land use and planning will be an asset right off the bat. "I am very happy to have the campaign over. I am very honored to be the city's elected official, and I'm looking forward to the work." she said at Tuesday's meeting.

This is the first time in the city's history the city council has had a female majority. The seat Christianson took Tuesday was vacated when Andrew Carter left for the city of Guadalupe.
