The San Luis Obispo County All Star basketball teams swept Northern Santa Barbara County at the 23rd annual Kiwanis Central Coast Basketball Spectacular. The All Star game's featured the top seniors from schools in the Pac-7, Los Padres League and Mission Prep.
The tall front line of Morro Bay's Hannah Gilbert, Atascadero's Mary Kate Evans and Paso Robles' Molly Donovan was too much as San Luis Obispo County won the girls match up 91-77. Gilbert was named Most Valuable Player after scoring 30 points and hauling down 19 rebounds. Her future teammate at Cal Poly, Evans, had 26 points and 12 rebounds. Evans also won the three-point competition at halftime. Donovan chipped in 20 points and 8 rebounds. Pioneer Valley's Aly Rodriguez led the Northern Santa Barbara County team with 39 points, Tatiana Dunlap from St. Joseph added 22 points and 9 rebounds.
The San Luis Obispo County boys won 81-69. Case Bruton from St. Joseph was named Most Valuable Player in a losing effort, Bruton scored 27 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. For San Luis Obispo County, Andy Rowley of Mission Prep was the high scorer with 16. Arroyo Grande's Matt Willkomm had 14 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. Brady Youngquist of Atascadero won the three-point contest and Templeton's Andy Garretson won the slam dunk competition.
