There has been a lot of talk lately about proposed development and changes in downtown Pismo Beach. Well we're getting a little sneak peek at one of the options on the table.
The San Luis Obispo Chamber reports a new boutique hotel called The Inn at The Pier is being planned for a vacant lot next to the Pismo Beach pier at 601 Cypress St. A couple of other sources tell me this in fact one of the ideas being pitched.
The SLO Chamber's e-insider says Santa Barbara-based Postcard Properties and Somera Capital Management-both of which have extensive experience in the resort market-have submitted plans for a 108-room hotel. The plan includes plans for a restaurant, rooftop pool, meeting space, fitness center and underground parking.
The chamber says it will feature ground-floor retail intended to have lower-cost space for vendors patterned after Seattle's Pike Place Market.
The 1.2 acre dirt lot where the hotel or some version of it would be build has been used for parking for years. There have been multiple proposals for structures there including expanded parking facilities.
