St. Joseph comes from behind to stun undefeated Righetti

Curry Parham hit the game-winning shot with 6 seconds left to cap a thrilling fourth quarter comeback for the St. Joseph boys basketball team on Wednesday night. The Knights overcame an 11 point deficit with 4:30 to play to win at cross-the-street rival and previously undefeated Righetti 64-62 in front of a packed gymnasium.

The Warriors fell to 8-1 in league and 12-10 overall. The Knights stayed alive in the Pac 7 League title hunt by improving to 6-2 in league and 16-6 for the season.

Marcus McMorris hit a layup to put the Warriors ahead 57-46 with 4:28 to play, but Case Bruton led the Knights back into the game. Bruton, a senior guard, hit a 3 pointer and then hit two free throws to tie the game with less than a minute to play. After the Warriors could not score on their end of the court, the Knights turned to Parham, a junior, to hit the game winner along the baseline a few feet away from the basket. The Warriors had one last shot, but a three-point attempt at the buzzer was no good.

Bruton led the Knights with 24 points. Parham finished with 11 points.

Righetti sophomore Cam Walker led the Warriors with 24.

The Warriors have Friday off before returning to action next week. The Knights play at Pioneer Valley Friday night.
