Mari Stewart recorded another double-double to lead three Eagles in double figures as the Templeton girls basketball team improved to 2-0 in Los Padres League play and 9-1 overall with a dominant 67-34 home win over Santa Maria.
Stewart finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds and 4 assists for the Eagles. Marissa Torres and Autumn Russell each had 12 points for Templeton. Torres added 6 assists, while Russell tallied 4 assists and 5 steals.
The Templeton boys dropped a heartbreaking 50-48 league decision to Santa Maria. The Eagles had a chance to tie it with a shot under the bucket as time expired, but missed the shot.
Andy Garretson led the Eagles with 20 points, while Jackson Wheeler added 10.
The Templeton boys fell to 4-5 overall and 0-2 in league. Santa Maria is 1-0 in league and 9-2 for the season.
