Tigers' comeback falls short at Christmas Classic

A furious fourth quarter comeback by San Luis Obispo fell just short on Saturday. The Tigers lost 62-54 to Marin Catholic to close out the 14th annual Mission Prep Christmas Classic on Saturday.

The Tigers finished the tournament 0-4.

David Thoreson led the Tigers with 14 points, while Blake Shapazian added 11 points.

San Luis Obispo trailed from start to finish. The Tigers were down 19-11 after the first quarter and 27-24 at the half. Marin Catholic outscored SLO 21-9 in the third quarter to take a 48-32 lead to start the fourth quarter. The Tigers cut the deficit to three, but could not get any closer.

Marin Catholic's leading scorer once again was Nick Calcaterra. The 6-2 guard has opened a lot of eyes during the Classic. He finished with 18 points, 10 came in the third quarter alone. Patrick Conroy added 16 points, including 8 in the fourth quarter.

The Wildcats left the tournament 2-1. They beat Righetti and San Luis Obispo to close out the tournament after falling to Mission on Wednesday.
