Twelve area boys basketball teams open CIF title runs Wednesday

Twelve Central Coast boys basketball teams open their CIF title runs on Wednesday night with first round games. Eight squads will open on their home floors, including Pac 7 League co-champion Atascadero and Los Padres League champion Cabrillo. The schedule of Wednesday's games is listed below. Arroyo Grande and Righetti play first round games on Friday, which is also when the winners of Wednesday's games are set to play second round games.

Fun Facts headed into the first round

-Atascadero has reached the quarterfinals the last four years
-Cabrillo has lost its last seven first round games, looking for first playoff win since 2005
-Lompoc lost in the first round the last three years, last playoff win was in 2009
-Templeton goes for its first playoff win since 2010
-St. Joseph lost in the quarterfinals last year and hasn't lost in the first round since 2009 to Calvary Baptist, which is the same school the Knights play Wednesday
-Morro Bay hasn't won a playoff game since Dylan Royer's senior year in 2008
-Mission Prep has made it to the semifinals the last two years
-Valley Christian Academy advanced to the quarterfinals last year
-Coast Union has not won a playoff game since at least 2004
