In the last few months San Luis Obispo Police say there's been a string of home break-ins.
On Wednesday police arrested two people in connection with three of the six burglaries.
Around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday police arrested Aaron Kirby, 35, and Hattie Davis, 19, near the 1200 block of Chorro Street in downtown San Luis Obispo. Police said both are transients. Police said Kirby is currently on probation for possession of stolen property and weapons violations.
San Luis Obispo Police told KSBY News the burglaries all happened during the day between 7:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. They said the burglars took jewelry, electronics, cash and anything else of value. What's also similar according to police is the burglars knocked to see if anyone is home before entering, and check for unlocked doors.
According to police, the woman and man targeted a home in San Luis Obispo Tuesday morning, but it was cut short when one of the people who lives there came home.
"I came in and went upstairs and there was a guy standing next to my bed. My clothes were all over the place and he had my laptop in a bag," said a Cal Poly student who wanted to remain anonymous.
She told KSBY she is relieved Kirby and Davis are behind bars. She said she was woken up in the middle of the night Tuesday to identify the suspected burglars.
Police said during the arrests, they found methamphetamine, heroine and $3,000 in cash as well a stolen handgun.
Police said they are looking for other burglars and the investigation remains open. Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers or the San Luis Obispo Police Department.
