Two people critically injured in Shandon area crash

CAL FIRE officials say two people are critically injured following a car crash in Shandon.

It happened around 1:20 p.m. Saturday on State Route 46 near Centre Street and McMillan Canyon Road.

Officials say three cars were involved.

The California Highway Patrol says the eastbound lanes of the 46 are open, but the westbound lane is blocked.

Officials say there were reports that someone was trapped in one of the cars, but they couldn't confirm whether or not extrication was needed. They say three other people involved in the crash left on foot. California Highway Patrol investigators are working to determine whether or not it was a hit and run.
