Two people in custody following pursuit through northern San Luis Obispo County

Authorities have two people in custody following a pursuit through northern San Luis Obispo County.

The California Highway Patrol says the chase started in Cayucos after a reported robbery that was taking place around 7:10 Tuesday morning. The driver led police on a chase on Highway 46. The CHP says the driver collided with a CHP car near North Bethel Road. The officer was taken to a near-by hospital where he was treated for minor to moderate injuries.

The chase then continued heading toward Atascadero. That's where the driver crashed his vehicle and two suspects got out of the car and ran off.

The CHP and Atascadero Police found and arrested the two suspects just after 8:50 am.

Two schools in Atascadero Unified School district were placed on lockdown as a precautionary measure. San Benito Elementary School and Del Rio Continuation High School have since lifted their lockdowns.

The Templeton Unified School District placed all four of its schools on lockdown. Those schools have lifted their lockdowns as well.
