Two vehicles involved in carjackings recovered, two teens arrested

The Santa Maria Police Department says officers have recovered the two vehicles taken in two separate carjackings Wednesday in Santa Maria.

A 1992 Acura was found Wednesday night in the area of Cypress and Linda. Two men with a gun had stolen the car from a man in the area of Concepcion and Central. No arrests have been made in connection to that carjacking.

On Thursday morning, a school resource officer noticed the second vehicle, a 2000 BMW. Three people were inside. One jumped out and ran away. The suspects who remained in the car, two 17-year-old boys, were taken into custody.

Police say four people were involved in the carjacking of that vehicle on Wednesday night. They say two females asked the male driver for a ride, then asked the man to pick up two of their friends. As he drove West, two of the passengers threatened the man with knives, forced him out of the car, and left him in an agricultural field.

The man was not injured.
