A fundraiser hosted by Chili's restaurants raised $4,650 last month for a local infant who is battling a rare form a cancer.
Lilly Bumpus' family tells KSBY News sales for January 25 at the Chili's locations in Goleta, Arroyo Grande, and Paso Robles totaled $31,000. The restaurants donated 15 percent of that to Lilly's family.
Lilly is currently receiving treatment at Children's Hospital Los Angeles for Ewing's Sarcoma, a form of cancer that is very rarely found in infants. It is so rare; there are only a handful of known cases among infants in the United States, according to Lilly's oncologist. Lilly has gained a following among our KSBY viewers and on Facebook for keeping a cheerful spirit while undergoing multiple rounds of chemotherapy. She is currently undergoing her sixth round of chemotherapy and will need surgery soon to remove a rib.
The Paso Robles Chili's location has pledged to keep up the fundraiser by donating 15 percent of sales on the last Friday of each month for those who bring in a flyer.
Another fundraiser is planned for the February 24 at The Ranch restaurant in San Miguel. The benefit concert starts at noon and ends at 10:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the door. The cost includes a barbecue meal. For information on the concert, click here.
There is also a website where anyone who may be interested can make a donation to the Bumpus family. For a link to that, click here.
