Wagman signs with Oakland A's

LOVES PARK, IL - Former Cal Poly pitcher Joey Wagman has been signed by the Oakland Athletics organization.

Wagman - who was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 17th round of the 2013 draft - posted a 3.05 ERA over 11 starts in the Frontier League (Independent league) this season. The 23-year-old was leading the league in strikeouts and was named to the 2014 Frontier League All-Star Team earlier this month.

The Danville, California native will be assigned to the Beloit Snappers, the Low-A affiliate of Oakland's organization and will likely make his first start on Thursday night.

Wagman led Cal Poly in ERA (2.33) and was second in wins (9) during his senior season in San Luis Obispo.
