The sixth ranked Arroyo Grande girls water polo team pulled an upset at third ranked Mira Costa at the CIF-SS, Division-3 playoffs on Saturday. The Eagles won the quarterfinal match, 9-4 to advance to the semifinals in Irvine. Senior Alexis Elias scored four goals and Brooklyn VanderVeen added three, Hanna Wadlow made eight saves in net for Arroyo Grande.

The Eagles avenge their season opening loss to Mira Costa and improve to 25-7 for the season. Next up is a semifinal match with second ranked Los Osos on Wednesday. The final four of the Division-3 playoffs will be played at the aquatic center in Irvine.

Cabrillo did not have the same success. The Conquistadores lost to second ranked Riverside Poly, 21-6 in the Division-5 quarterfinals. The Los Padres League champs hosted the game. Cabrillo finishes 19-8 while Riverside Poly improves to 25-4.
