LOS ANGELES (AP) - Federal aviation officials are advising private pilots of significant flight restrictions in Southern California this weekend.
The Federal Aviation Administration didn't state the reason for the rules, but they coincide with President Barack Obama's planned visit to deliver an address during University of California, Irvine, commencement ceremonies.
Private pilots will not be able to fly within 11 nautical miles of Palm Springs International Airport from Friday evening until Monday afternoon.
From Saturday morning through afternoon, pilots are also not allowed to fly within 10 to 13 nautical miles of Anaheim.
The FAA is prohibiting certain activities such as crop dusting and flight training within a 30- to 32-nautical-mile radius of both Anaheim and Palm Springs.
Pilots are asked to contact the FAA if they have questions about the restrictions.
