Arroyo Grande High's Eli Whittle matched former Eagle and current Cal Poly star Andre Dome by winning his fourth straight Pac 7 League singles title on Friday. The League Championships took place at the Paso Robles Sports Club in sunny conditions with temperatures in the mid-90's.
Whittle, the top seed, defeated his AG teammate Sean Hollister, the second seed, 4-6, 6-3 and 6-1 in the championship match. It marked the third year in a row the two Eagles battled for the league title. Hollister captured a set for the first time in those matches.
Paso Robles' Cooper Austin defeated Nick Johnson of San Luis Obispo 8-5 in the consolation final for third place.
In the doubles final, top seeded Josh Milla and Mason Hansen beat second seed Cole Laughton and Derek Lakowske from Arroyo Grande 6-3, 6-1. Hansen teamed up with Adrian Argulo to win the doubles title last year.
Luke Iunker and Noah Cleere of San Luis Obispo teamed up to beat Righetti's Will Veroski and Gustav Jarpehag for third place.
Whittle, Hollister, Milla/Hansen and Laughton/Lakowske qualified for CIF Sections at Cate High School on May 23.
The CIF Team playoffs start next week. The brackets will be released at 11 am on Monday.
