Righetti senior Luke Wilson won two matches on Sunday at the National High School Wrestling Tournament to finish third in the 152 pound weight class. Wilson lost to Joey Lavallee from Nevada in the semifinals on Saturday, Lavallee went on to win the title. On Sunday, Wilson beat Stephen Meyers from Kentucky, 3-1 in overtime. He then beat Minnesota's Adam Cooling, 11-8 in the third place match.
Overall Wilson was 5-1 at the National Meet held in Virginia Beach, Virginia.
This is the 24th annual National High School Wrestling Championships. To qualify for the tournament you must be a State Champion or State Runner-up at some point throughout your high school wrestling career. However in New Jersey and New York top four place finishers qualify and in California, finishing in the top eight at state qualifies you.
The tournament brackets are seperated into grade levels. Wilson finished third at the senior level. Paso Robles senior Kevan Garcia went 2-2 in the 138 pound weight class.
