Damaging winds gusts to 60 mph across coastal sections of Santa Barbara and San Luis Obispo counties.
All other locations can expect wind gusts of 40 to 55 mph. Winds will begin to diminish this evening in most coastal areas and late tonight in the valleys and mountains.
These strong winds will likely cause power outages and possibly some property damage.
There is a high wind warning in effect until 10 pm this evening.
Northwest winds 15 to 25 mph with gusts to 35 mph will increase to 30 to 40 mph with gusts to 60 mph then continue through late this evening. Winds will be strongest near the coast and in higher terrain.
A high wind warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected or occurring. Sustained wind speeds of at least 40 mph or gusts of 58 mph or more can lead to property damage.
