Central Coast Winemakers are proving they know how to raise money for local charities. Yesterday we told you how the Central Coast Wine Classic raised almost a million dollars in it's live auction. ($800k) which will go to the Children's Resource Network of the Central Coast. Today, Wine Waves and Beyond announced it made more than $17,000 during it's 3rd annual event for the Amp-Surf foundation.
Amp-Surf teaches amputees how to surf and the emotional healing that can happen by conquering the waves. Wine Waves and Beyond is a four-day event in Pismo Beach and Shell Beach that celebrates the surf culture of the Central Coast as well as the great wines, beers and food produced locally. "This has become one of the premier lifestyle events on the Central Coast," says Mike Casola, the President of the Board of Directors and the Chief Operating Officer for the Boutique Hotel Collection. "And we are very proud to have raised $17,000 this year for Amp Surf, and since 2009 over $42,000!"
Amp Surf founder, Dana Cumming, says: "Because of the continued dedication of the Wine Waves and Beyond team, AmpSurf has been able to grow and share the healing power of surfing with disabled veterans and local disabled. This event highlights what a community working together can do to honor those who have served and those in need. AmpSurf looks forward to continued success and seeing the Wine Waves and Beyond event continue to grow."
The 4th Annual Wine, Waves & Beyond will take place May 30 to June 2, 2013. For more information, click here.
