Crews will start tearing down World War II-era barracks at Camp Roberts in northern San Luis Obispo County on Monday.
Camp Roberts began its mission as an armed forces training center in 1941.
It ranked among the world's largest training sites for nearly 500,000 soldiers during World War II.
On Monday, more than 600 old buildings will be removed.
It's part of a renovation project that includes energy-efficient upgrades to the training post.
