Younger women still getting mammograms despite new recommendations

Mammogram rates among younger women have not declined despite recent recommendations against annual screenings.

Three years ago, the U.S. Preventative Services Task Force advised against yearly mammograms for women in their 40's because there was a lower cancer risk and a high number of false positives, but a new study finds mammogram rates haven't dropped for that age group or any other.

Researchers say they're not sure why younger women continue to get mammograms but point out many doctors disagree with these recommendations and may continue to urge their patients to get screened.
